| Welcome to Music at Phalen Lake! |  | This year there is no general music specialist at Phalen Lake, but students in fourth grade may play in the recorder ensemble and students in grades five and six have the opportunity to participate in band and/or choir. Because there is no general music specialist, Mr. Kunkel will only be in the building Mondays, Tuesdays, and in the morning on Wednesdays.
Morning Music Moments!
Every morning, before school starts and as students are entering the building, music is playing in the halls. This music is not intended to be background music, or even mood music. Rather this music is part of Phalen Lake's Core Knowledge Curriculum.
On Monday mornings a podcast is played immediately after the bell rings. The podcast is a selection from the curriculum that has been played in the morning but it also has an instructional element to it. It may be about a composer, or it may be about a certain aspect of music such as dynamics or form.
